Don’t give up your day job!

Sorry about that title up there, once it arrived in the space between my ears I couldn’t get rid of it until I put it in this entry.
You may recall a brief amount of detail provided with the news of Issue 13 about ‘Day Jobs’ in City of Heroes. Now this was of course back when Issue 13 was just plain old issue 13 and not split in to two. Yes the mission maker we all want to see has been postphoned until next year. This is a good thing, if they want to make it perfect I’d rather wait for it. With the competition starting to creep closer, City of X continues to make its playerbase.
Day Jobs will offer players a chance to progress their character even when they are not online. I love these styles of features. One EVE does very well, sometimes I can log into that game just to level up a skill and leave it running. Where’s the fun in that? well it’s not really about taking the fun away, i find it quite the opposite. For me offline progression takes the grind away from a game. If we use EVE again as an example. No levelling or assisted levelling means you arent grinding away to level, you simply log in to do something else, something fun.
City of Heroes will allow players to choose a day job and a suitable outfit to look the part. When you log out your character is in patrol mode and gains bonus and powers for you to use next time you log in. For casual gamers like me this is ideal, again this franchise continues to offer players easier ways to play the game. I look forward to trying this out and seeing how it interacts with the level lock system that is also coming.
If your a lore or fluff type player, I am sure this will float your boat. Give your character an extra depth from a Role Play perspective. I’d hope the new costume options have a degree of flexibility to match the character creation screen.
Anyway the official site has some great pictures up and details of all the jobs on offer so check the article out.
